Delivering Liquid Gold: How Quicksilver Supports the Minnesota Milk Bank for Babies

When a premature or critically ill infant needs donor breastmilk, there's no room for error in how it gets there. Every bottle must stay at a precise temperature, arrive on schedule, and be handled by a courier trained for medical transport. That's the standard the Minnesota Milk Bank for Babies (MMBB) holds its partners to, and it's why we're proud to be their medical courier of choice.

In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month this August, we're featuring the MMBB and the remarkable work they do across the region.

Who Is the Minnesota Milk Bank for Babies?

Established in 2018, the MMBB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA). The organization collects breastmilk from donors, then thoroughly screens, tests, and pasteurizes it before it's delivered to premature and critically ill infants whose mothers' milk is not available.

The MMBB is currently the only dispensing nonprofit milk bank serving Minnesota and the Dakotas, making the reliability of every single delivery that much more important.

Where Quicksilver Comes In

Once donated milk passes testing, it's sent to hospitals where it feeds the most fragile babies. That's our part of the journey.

Between February 2026 and July 2026, Quicksilver delivered 10,485 bottles of pasteurized donor milk for the MMBB. That's more than 41,000 ounces, roughly 123,693 meals for extremely preterm babies.

Donor milk is a medical product, and we treat it that way. Our certified medical couriers ensure that every bottle arrives safely, whether it's headed to a NICU across Minneapolis or a hospital hours away. With chain-of-custody handling and 24/7 availability, the MMBB knows they can trust us to get that liquid gold exactly where it needs to go.

A Partnership Built on People

Beyond the logistics, it's the people that make the partnership work.

"We appreciate the driver profiles and pictures in the portal. It puts a face to the name," shared Mellisa of the MMBB, pictured above with Quicksilver driver Tim during a recent pickup.

That personal connection matters when the cargo is this precious. Our drivers aren't just making deliveries, they're a dependable link in a chain that starts with a generous donor and ends with a baby getting the nutrition they need to grow.
