This article is part of an ongoing series where Quicksilver employees share their perspectives from the front lines of same-day delivery. Phoenix Account Executive Lamise Rasheed takes us through a day in the life of courier sales — and what it really means to solve a customer's logistics problem.

No two days are the same

I have been in business development since graduating from ASU in 2004, but being an Account Executive at Quicksilver is so much different than most of the other places I've worked. Because we service such a wide range of industries, my days look different every day which makes it fun to come to work. One day I might be meeting with a pharmacy that relies on us to deliver life-saving medications to their patients, and another day I'm working with a design company delivering flooring samples to customers building their dream homes.

Customer Visits

Visiting my customers is the best part of my day. My primary goal when I stop to see clients or prospective clients is to understand their needs, their pain points, and figure out the best solution to streamline their operations. My job is to make their jobs easier.

I might be visiting a current customer who has increased their service usage and now needs a dedicated driver to handle all their necessary work. Or it might be a prospective client who reached out because they have a logistics problem they can't solve on their own. A recent example: a plumbing company had contracted with a bathtub supplier on the East Coast to deliver bathtubs to 10 different apartment complex job sites across the Phoenix metro and needed the most cost-effective way to make it happen. Quicksilver's short term warehouse storage capabilities were the perfect solution. Our capacity to receive the 53-foot trucks and coordinate final-mile delivery to the job sites ahead of the installers. This type of job site delivery is something a 53-foot truck would struggle to navigate on its own.

Whoever the client is and whatever the need, Quicksilver gives me the opportunity to be the detective and find the best solution so they can get back to doing what they do best: running their business.

Being an Account Executive in Phoenix

Quicksilver operates in six markets, and while we all share the same goals of helping our clients, each market is different. The Phoenix branch has been open for 20 years, and along with the growing Valley of the Sun, we've grown too.

As a Business Development Officer in Phoenix, the only element I have to deal with is the heat, unlike some of my counterparts back East who deal with snow and freezing cold. And let's be real: us Phoenicians are used to the heat and there is nothing the A/C can't cool down! This gives me the opportunity to be out in the field almost every day meeting with current and new clients, spreading the word about Quicksilver. It also provides no real "slow season" since you can't shovel sunshine. It is so exciting to get a call from a new business that received our information from a client that has used our services since day one! That is just a testament to how much our growth here in Phoenix has been because our customers continue to use us day after day and value our service, professionalism, and reliability enough to help us grow even more by speaking so highly of the Quicksilver Team!
